CGM goes online amid pandemic

Casa Gorordo Museum (CGM) announced its temporary closure to the public last March 14, 2020 upon the start of the outbreak of the COVID-19  pandemic in the Phlippines.  It was one of the first museums to do so in the Central Visayas Region.

To sustain its engagement with the public, the museum focused development of cultural content for enjoyment by the general publicmainly through its Facebook Pagat at facebook.com/casagorordomuseum.

“Thanks to the internet, we are able to continue sharing stories with our audences in the midst of the pandemic,” said Florencio Moreño II, the curator of CGM. “As the quarantine lengthened, it became clear to us that our sense of identity was also eroding because of our disconection from our familiar cultural environment. So, we worked to produce content to remind Cebuanos of their cultural heritage as we try to live through this crisis, he added.”
